Important update for Battlefield 2 released

An update has been released for Battlefield 2. The latest patch replaces the update released last week. EA has introduced a serious bug in the 1.1 patch; a memory leak caused Clanhost - and many other providers - a lot of problems. In short, this leak causes the dedicated server software to consume almost all the memory on the server.
The problem was very serious, esescially for game server providers such as Clanhost. Normally providers reserve a certain amount of memory for every game server, the amount depending on the game and slots and such. For a 32 slots Battlefield 2 server the amount of memory required is around 200 MB when fully occupied, this amount won't increase or decrease signficanlty during operation.
When a program - like the dedicated server for Battlefield 2- leaks memory, the amount of memory required will grow rapidly until the server is restarted. Normally programs will free used memory when no longer required and use new memory during operation. This process does not function properly is the software "leaks" memory.
We have updated all our Battlefield 2 servers to the latest version. You can find the new patch on the website of EA. If you would like to test one of our servers you can always join the public of the Dutch clan Armed Core Unit, their server can be found at the following IP adres: 80.84.250.20. Have fun playing!
